There are three active satellites in the SPOT constellation: SPOT 2, 4, and 5. Valid comparisons can
be made between images of each satellite since they all complete
the same sun-synchronous 26 day orbital cycle, with the same
altitude and inclination. Spot's oblique viewing capacity allows
it to image any area within a 900-kilometer swath, increasing
the viewing frequency for a given point during a given cycle.
The frequency varies with latitude with an interval ranging
from a maximum of 4 days to a minimum of 1 day. Spot programming
services make optimum use of acquisition capacity to provide
a flexible and effective response to users' diverse requirements.
